About NuWay Community Services

NuWay Community Services is a CARF accredited outpatient addiction treatment provider on Chicago’s South Side in Illinois, specializing in opioid use disorder care for adults.  NuWay’s mission centers on delivering accessible community rooted care that helps adults stabilize, heal, and rebuild their lives without leaving the neighborhoods they call home.

The program combines methadone based medication treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention using the Matrix Model to support lasting recovery.

Methadone-Assisted Opioid Treatment and CBT

NuWay’s core specialty is outpatient opioid treatment, with methadone maintenance at the heart of its program. The organization has been CARF-accredited as an opioid treatment program since 2003, reflecting a long track record of structured, medication-supported care for adults in Chicago.

Treatment pairs daily medication services with counseling, comprehensive substance use assessment, urine drug screening, and relapse prevention planning. Sessions help clients address triggers and build coping skills while working through underlying issues using evidence-based approaches like CBT, motivational interviewing, and contingency management.

Wraparound Recovery Support and Special Populations

Beyond medication and counseling, NuWay offers wraparound services designed to remove barriers to recovery. These include HIV and hepatitis education and testing, TB and STD screening, housing services and child care, aftercare planning, and community outreach.

The program welcomes pregnant and postpartum women, seniors, LGBTQ clients, veterans and military families, court referred clients, and those with co-occurring mental health conditions.
