About Berks TASC

Berks TASC is a drug and alcohol central intake, evaluation and treatment referral agency in Reading, Pennsylvania.

It serves Berks County under the Council on Chemical Abuse and the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs.

The organization provides clinical assessments, CRN evaluations, case management, peer recovery support and placement into detox, outpatient, and residential treatment.

Berks TASC works as the county’s front door to recovery, connecting uninsured and Medicaid-covered residents with the right level of care at the right time.

Central Intake for Addiction Treatment

Berks TASC specializes in walk-in drug and alcohol assessments, helping residents navigate the path into treatment without unnecessary delays.

The agency secures funding and coordinates placements across detox, outpatient and residential programs throughout the region.

Assessments are conducted in person on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 8:00 AM Monday through Friday with telehealth available for eligible clients.

Justice Diversion and Hand-Off Recovery Support

Beyond intake, Berks TASC integrates with hospitals, courts and the jail system to reach people at critical moments.

Certified Recovery Specialists staff a 24/7 Warm Hand-Off Program at Tower Health/Reading Hospital’s emergency department.

Jail intervention, treatment court support and Specialty Court Recovery House services help justice-involved individuals access care as an alternative to incarceration.
