About Community Behavioral Health

Community Behavioral Health (CBH) is Philadelphia’s behavioral health managed care organization, coordinating mental health and substance use disorder services for Medicaid members throughout Philadelphia County.

Rather than providing treatment directly, CBH connects residents to a broad network of providers offering care for concerns like alcohol addiction, opioid use and cooccurring disorders.

As the only behavioral health managed care organization for Philadelphia County under HealthChoices, CBH works to make quality behavioral healthcare accessible to those who need it most.

Coordinating Substance Use and Mental Health Care in Philadelphia

CBH’s core role is arranging and paying for behavioral health services for Philadelphia residents enrolled in Medical Assistance through HealthChoices.

This includes coverage and coordination for substance use disorder treatment and mental health support across a citywide network of providers.

Members are connected to services that may include individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy and outpatient or aftercare support through network partners.

CBH also helps members confirm covered services, find providers and access transportation resources, advocacy and grievance support.

One recent review praised a smooth phone intake experience and a staff member for treating the caller with genuine care and human decency.

A Central Access Point for Behavioral Health

Beyond coordinating treatment, CBH serves as an administrative and member services hub tied to the broader Philadelphia behavioral health system.

Member Services are available 24/7, with TTY/relay support and interpreter access to help members navigate their care with confidence.

Access, Coverage and Getting Started

CBH’s main office is located at 801 Market Street in Philadelphia, accessible via public transportation with nearby parking garages.

The organization serves Philadelphia County residents who receive Medical Assistance (Medicaid) through Pennsylvania’s HealthChoices program.
