Oxford House Wappoo Hall was a recovery house in Charleston, South Carolina. It was a substance free home for men who were trying to maintain recovery and the home was run by the men who lived there as a peer led facility.

Sunday Evening in Charleston

Men came to Wappoo Hall on Sunday evenings at 6:00pm. A Sunday evening was the time for someone to transport their loved one to the house or for those who were bringing themselves. This was convenient for those who needed transportation from someone who worked weekdays and may be travelling some distance to provide help for their loved one.

The house had six beds. The men lived alongside five other men at the same address in Charleston while living a normal, healthy and sober life. Once a month the houses in the area met to share house struggles and accomplishments while providing peer and neighborly support.

The men paid the costs of living there.
