About Saint Christophers Jennie Clarkson Campus

The Jennie Clarkson Campus of Saint Christopher’s in Valhalla, New York offers residential treatment for adolescents and young adults with substance use disorders and mental health issues. The program is based on trauma informed care which takes a close look at the history of the client. With the help of good structure and treatment methods, the residents are able to participate in a process that addresses the mind, emotions and behavior.

Innovative Therapies That Inspire Change

Saint Christopher’s treatment goes beyond the conventional approaches. Cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma therapy are central to the care that helps residents change their thinking and handle feelings.

The facility also incorporates experiential therapy into the treatment plan so that patients can participate in the process of healing. Another of its characteristics is the animal assisted therapy program. Patients can interact with donkeys, goats and chickens at Jennie’s Farm which helps in the development of responsibility, self awareness and emotional regulation.

The healing garden and scenic nature trails are a perfect place for a patient to calm down and think about his or her worries. These elements also create a link with the natural world and offer a different kind of therapy for patients who may not cope well with talk therapy.

A Fresh Approach to Recovery

For those who have had a poor experience with treatment in the past, Saint Christopher’s has an angle that seems to be different. The residents can learn various strategies that can help them manage their symptoms and recover from the disorder through evidence based practices and immersive therapies. The residential program provides structure which is important for patients with co-occurring mental illness.
