About Valley Sober Living Madison House

Located in Stockton, California’s vibrant “Miracle Mile”, Valley Sober Living’s Madison House offers a structured, supportive co-ed environment for adults navigating recovery from substance abuse.

The facility sits near Pacific and Harding within walking distance of downtown, the marina, public transportation and plenty of 12-step meetings. Madison House is also conveniently located near local campuses like UOP and Delta College which makes it ideal for individuals balancing recovery with work or school.

A Safe Place to Land

The atmosphere at Madison House is what really stands out to me. Madison House operates more like a family than a facility with a focus on accountability, peer support, and structure. The warm and inviting space is what caught my attention. This spacious Victorian home boasts old-school character and charm featuring a large backyard perfect for gardening and BBQs, shared meals, on-site laundry and complimentary internet.

Residents are expected to follow house rules and participate in their recovery but there’s room to breathe and grow on their own terms. With its peaceful, welcoming vibe, this place provides residents with the kind of stability and comfort that truly feels like home.

What to Expect: Rules and Costs

This isn’t a detox center or inpatient rehab. It’s sober living. Although there are no clinical services on-site, there is a strong emphasis on personal responsibility and peer-based support. The rules at Madison House are clear and consistent.  They have a zero-tolerance policy for using or drinking on the premises and there are random drug/alcohol tests, assigned chores, and mandatory house meetings.

For many residents, that structure appears to be what made the difference especially during a time when they weren’t quite ready to manage everything on their own. Valley Sober Living doesn’t currently accept insurance, Medicaid or Medicare. However, program fees are relatively affordable and designed to be sustainable.
