Conveniently located in the downtown area, the center was accessible by public transportation. One of the core elements to the program that I really liked were closed, structured group therapy sessions. The staff felt that once a therapy group was started, that it would not be open to new members.

This approach to therapy fostered a sense of peer community and confidentiality. Members praised this “closed therapy” and stated that they formed friendships there that became crucial to them maintaining their sobriety.

The center was close to several parks and recreational areas. Riverfront Park was in the vicinity and provided patients and their families with an open space to enjoy outdoor activities or quiet walks in between treatment sessions.
