About Southwest Washington Safe Haven

Southwest Washington Safe Haven is a crisis mental health and substance use support center in Longview, Washington, less than a mile from the downtown area. The center provides walk in services for clients in mental health crises and they focus on adults and youth, 14 and up.

The center is funded through the local community and the services are free to all Cowlitz County residents. The center offers nonmedical safety, stabilization and deescalation services and is conveniently located within easy walking distance of public transportation.

Homelike and Caring Atmosphere

The facility offers access to necessities in a homelike, calm and caring atmosphere. The layout is secure and clients are supervised by certified peer counselors and professional staff. There are resting areas, group and individual spaces and snacks are available.

Connecting to Community Resources

The facility assists community members who aren’t eligible for inpatient services but need help beyond traditional outpatient programs. They focus on clients in severe distress who may be at risk for self harm or suicide or are experiencing a mental health or substance misuse crisis.

The staff emphasizes the trauma informed, nonjudgmental care. Clients have expressed their appreciation for the sense of safety and respect, as well as the supportive, nonjudgmental staff.
