St. Anne Hospital was formerly known as Highline Medical Center and is a Virginia Mason Franciscan Health hospital in Burien, Washington serving the greater Puget Sound region. This full service hospital offers 24 hour emergency care alongside behavioral health efforts including substance use screening and medication assisted treatment.

St. Anne Hospital connects patients with the right level of care by linking emergency services to lower barrier outpatient treatment and community partners.

Hospital Based Substance Use Screening and Intervention

As a hospital based access point St. Anne Hospital uses the SBIRT model which stands for Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment delivered by a chemical dependency counselor. The emergency department has initiated medically assisted treatment and connects patients with low barrier outpatient treatment clinics.

Rather than a standalone residential rehab this setting focuses on identifying substance use concerns early and guiding patients toward the appropriate next step. Also provided are drug and inpatient rehabilitation along with counseling.

Integrated Behavioral Health and Community Partnership

St. Anne Hospital partners with Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care to support mental health and substance use disorder treatment. The hospital offers depression screening at annual wellness visits, embedded care managers in select clinics, and suicide risk screening in the emergency room. Psychiatric consultations have also been offered through virtual medicine.
