Hopewell Therapeutic Farm Community is a nonprofit residential treatment program in Middlefield, Ohio.

The program supports individuals living with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder and trauma. They can also help with co occurring drug or alcohol addiction but mental health is their specialty.

Hopewell treats the whole person by blending nature, meaningful work and clinical care to foster lasting healing.

Farm Based Residential Mental Health Treatment

Hopewell’s core specialty is long-term residential care for adults with severe mental illness who need more than outpatient support.

Residents receive individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatry and medication management, with typical stays ranging from about four to nine months.

As the first U.S. therapeutic farm community to be CARF accredited for Therapeutic Community: Mental Health, Hopewell offers a uniquely structured healing environment.

Treatment draws on evidence based approaches like CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR and ERP, paired with experiential therapies including ecotherapy, art and music therapy and equine assisted learning.

Daily life centers on meaningful farm work, gardening, and community living that builds routine, confidence and connection. This whole person model addresses underlying issues while restoring stability and purpose.

Apartment Based Programming

Beyond residential care, Hopewell supports a smooth transition to more independent living through apartment based programming near Cleveland and Club Hope for ongoing participation after discharge.

Residents can also engage in education support, vocational skill building and employment preparation to sustain progress.

Hopewell provides in person residential treatment in Middlefield with transition apartments on Cleveland’s east side.

As a nonprofit, private pay facility, it works with several private insurers and may offer financial assistance.
