About Wayside House Minneapolis

Wayside Recovery, formerly The Wayside House, Inc., is a long-running Minnesota provider offering gender specific, trauma informed addiction treatment for women, children and families in the Minneapolis area.

The organization treats substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders through residential care, family treatment and intensive outpatient programs.

Since 1954, Wayside has focused on breaking the cycle of addiction and trauma so women and their families can heal together.

Trauma Informed Women’s Addiction Treatment

Wayside’s core specialty is gender specific residential and outpatient treatment designed exclusively for adult women.

Its programs address co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders through a trauma informed model, with intake beginning through a comprehensive assessment and no referral required.

In treatment, women engage in group therapy, individual counseling, peer recovery support, life skills training and on-site mental health services.

The program accepts all forms of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and addresses the underlying trauma driving addiction.

Family Treatment for Mothers and Children

Through its Family Treatment Center, Wayside is one of only a few Minnesota programs that allows mothers to remain in residential treatment with up to three young children, ages birth to 11.

Care includes parenting education, family counseling for children and coordinated support, with transportation provided to daycare and prenatal appointments.

Locations and Getting Started

Wayside serves women and families in the Minneapolis and St. Louis Park area, offering both in-person and telehealth intensive outpatient options, with intake routed through the Wayside Wellness Office in St. Paul.

With roots dating back to 1954, Wayside offers a full continuum of women focused residential, outpatient, mental health, and supportive housing services.
