About M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center West Bank
University of Minnesota Medical Center’s West Bank East Building is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This facility offers many different programs and services for children and adults in the Twin Cities area.. It’s open 24-hours a day and houses the state’s only children’s behavioral inpatient unit devoted to patients under 12 years old.
They provide an inpatient program for teens dealing with chemical dependency and mental illness. This dual diagnosis program attends to both conditions at the same time with age-appropriate treatments. Your teen will be given the highest level of care from a team of experienced clinicians. This may include psychiatrists, medical doctors, mental health therapists, and addiction specialists.
The first thing after being admitted is a comprehensive evaluation. This may include lab work, a physical, medical history and psychological assessment.
Each patient gets a custom treatment plan suited to their needs. Often this includes a mix of individual and family therapy, group counseling and education sessions, and medication management. Experiential therapies like art and music therapy may also be an option to support your teen’s recovery.
The aim of this program is to work towards discharge as quickly as possible. Staff will work with families and the patient to create an aftercare plan to map out the next steps for continued recovery. This plan typically includes outpatient programs for ongoing support.
The University of Minnesota Medical Center also has an inpatient unit for adults dealing with mental illness. This could include substance use disorders, depression, PTSD, OCD and other conditions.
They’re in-network with a variety of health insurance providers such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, CMS/Medicare, Hennepin Health, SecureCare and Optum/United Behavioral Health. You may speak to a financial counselor before treatment to get an estimate.
