About St Mary’s Behavioral Services

Saint Mary’s Healthcare Psychiatric Medical Unit is a hospital-based psychiatric and addiction treatment center in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Operating under the Trinity Health Michigan system the unit offers inpatient stabilization and an outpatient program with a strong emphasis on dual diagnosis care for adults managing co-occurring challenges.

Inpatient and Outpatient Access

The unit provides inpatient psychiatric stabilization and outpatient services, both of which are structured to address co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

For ongoing outpatient care, the center also operates an affiliated Recovery Medicine practice at a separate location focused on substance use disorder assessment and FDA-approved medication-assisted therapies.

Inclusive Care

Programming is available for adults and seniors, veterans and military-connected individuals and LGBTQ+ clients.

The dual diagnosis focus makes this unit particularly suited to individuals whose substance use is closely tied to a mental health condition.

Treatment draws on methods like CBT, DBT, trauma-informed therapy and family therapy or psychoeducation.

Experiential therapy is also available to provide a more holistic recreation that complements traditional therapies.
