About Fern House

Fern House is a residential recovery program in West Palm Beach, Florida, serving men working to overcome substance use disorders. Established in 1983, the program offers structured, sober living with a strong foundation in Alcoholics Anonymous principles and peer fellowship. Men describe the environment as disciplined, accountable and deeply rooted in mutual aid and community support.

Residential Care and Supervision

Fern House operates two residential facilities with a total of 104 beds, offering drug and alcohol free housing with supervision, life skills development and daily recovery programming. The program follows a zero tolerance abstinence model and requires participation in AA and NA meetings, in house group sessions and structured daily routines focused on self improvement and reintegration into society.

Who Can Get Help at Fern House?

The program exclusively serves indigent adult men, including those who are homeless, uninsured, or formerly incarcerated. Fern House is designed to help men who might otherwise fall through the cracks of the treatment system and need both recovery support and help rebuilding stability.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?

Residents follow a highly structured schedule that includes 2 hours of daily self improvement activities, required group sessions, AA or NA meetings, work responsibilities and household chores. Employment is expected within 2 weeks of admission, reinforcing accountability and preparing residents for long term independence.

Residents pay a weekly rent to cover housing, 3 daily meals, utilities and program participation. No insurance is accepted and the program operates entirely on resident contributions and charitable fundraising.
