About Meridian – Main Campus

Located in Gainesville, Florida, is the Meridian Behavioral Healthcare’s Outpatient Gainesville Office in Alachua County. It’s right next to Squirrel Ridge Park. This outpatient office works with children, adults, and families who are experiencing struggles with their mental health or have a co-occurring substance use disorder.

There are both evidence based therapies here and whole person approaches to care like access to housing and employment services. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available here, and depending on your circumstances you’ll have access to FDA approved medications like methadone, Vivitrol, and buprenorphine (Suboxone).

There’s room for all individuals to be cared for here, no matter your addiction history, current circumstances, or recovery needs. I appreciate their dedication to helping vulnerable individuals like those who are experiencing homelessness or on the brink of homelessness.

They have a special program here called the PATH program (The Project for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness). If you’re struggling with safe housing, you can get connected to services that will help you find a safe place to live.

They work with community housing partners throughout the Gainesville and surrounding area to get you connected to a temporary or permanent place to call home. The Victory Church of Gainesville is right across the street. The care team here recognizes that quality recovery services are that much more effective when you have a stable and safe place to live.

Due to the immense need throughout the community, you might experience longer than average wait times when it comes to scheduling an appointment or being seen by a provider. Despite this, when you do receive care, it’s comprehensive and tailored to your unique recovery needs.

Therapies

Individual Therapy
Individual therapy in Florida helps clients overcome substance use by providing individualized, confidential support. Individual therapy is a normal part of evidence-based treatment programs, and may be a part of inpatient treatment, outpatient care, or both. Topics include processing past events that may have contributed to substance use, learning new life skills, and relapse prevention strategies.
Group Therapy
Overcoming substance use is easier if you’re not alone. During group therapy in Florida, you’ll hear others’ perspectives and get the support you need. Group therapy sessions generally last 60 to 90 minutes and may include discussing a specific issue, sharing wins and challenges, education about specific topics, or developing life skills.
