Legacy Counseling Center is a specialized outpatient substance use treatment provider in Dallas, Texas offering integrated addiction and mental health counseling for adults living with HIV/AIDS.

Located in the Uptown area, the center delivers intensive and supportive outpatient programs, individual and group counseling and crisis response services. Reviewers describe a generally positive experience.

What addiction programs are offered?

Legacy Counseling Center offers two outpatient tracks for substance use treatment. The nine week intensive outpatient program requires 10 hours per week, including three group sessions and one individual counseling session.

The supportive outpatient program is also nine weeks and focuses on group and individual counseling, relapse prevention planning, recovery education and life skills development.

Who can receive treatment here?

The center serves adults age 18 and older who are HIV positive and have a letter of diagnosis. Specialized groups are available for HIV positive women and Spanish speaking clients and bilingual counselors are on staff.

Clients are expected to remain alcohol and drug free throughout the program.

What other support services are available?

In addition to substance use care, Legacy provides counseling for concerns such as anxiety, depression and survivor guilt, medication compliance and diagnosis related crises.

A 24 hour emergency hotline is available, and the program is part of the broader Legacy Cares network offering housing and other supportive services.

Where is the center located?

Legacy Counseling Center is in Uptown Dallas at 4054 McKinney Avenue. Services cover Dallas, Collin and Denton, Ellis and Henderson, Hunt and Kaufman counties with emergency walk in availability during weekday hours.
