About Revolution Recovery
Revolution Recovery (formerly Austin Recovery) is a nonprofit organization that assists teens with substance use disorder to find a path to recovery. They do this through education, support and connection. This is an outpatient program that includes a recovery high school.
They offer a peer support program to help teens with issues due to substance experimentation or misuse. The programs accept Medicaid and private health insurance, as well as other state financed health insurance plans.
Please note that the recovery high school is working with a new academic partner and enrollment has been paused for 2024-2025. The peer support program has also been temporarily paused.
Convenient Educational Setting for Teen Recovery
The recovery center and high school are located on the University of Texas at Austin’s campus. They’ve been open since 2014. The recovery high school is the only high school in Austin that works with teens in recovery.
The goal of the high school is to create a place where students thrive in a healthy and safe learning environment. The program provides addiction recovery support and the academic partner provides education for the students.
Austin has a rich cultural scene where parents can take their teens for educational experiences while in the program. The Texas State Capitol, the LBJ Presidential Library and the Blanton Museum of Art are interesting and educational attractions.
Family Support Program in Austin
Parent involvement is key to the success of the teen programs. They have parent coaches to support parents as their teens progress through the program.
Parent coaches educate parents about substance use disorder and substance misuse. They have individual coaching sessions, support groups and social nights out with other parents. The program is designed to intervene in teen substance misuse and permanently transform families for the better.
