About SMOC Sage House
SMOC Sage House, located in Framingham, Massachusetts, is a caring residential program for families in need of counseling and support while they recover from mental health challenges and substance abuse. It specifically caters to families where both parents or the male head of household struggle with chronic substance use. The program believes in the importance of keeping families together so they have facilities that house entire families rather than just the person with addiction.
Helping Those at Risk for Homelessness or Incarceration
One of the aspects of this clinic that I like the most is that it reaches out to help some of the more vulnerable populations. In particular, they help people at risk of becoming homeless and those recently released from the penitentiary system.
The counselors focus on creating a safe and nurturing environment while helping the clients overcome trauma and other emotional challenges. At the same time, through supportive workshops, they help the clients develop life skills, find employment opportunities and gain a sense of empowerment as they move forward in the program.
A Homelike Facility for Families Near Cushing Memorial Park,
To help the clients gradually regain their independence as they reconnect with their community, the program works in close connection with local support programs. It’s also part of the South Middlesex Opportunity Council so they coordinate with other SMOC agencies.
The homelike facility is located near Cushing Memorial Park, allowing residents to enjoy outdoor recreational activities. There are also shared areas within the residence, creating a sense of community and peer support with others.
The center accepts payment from MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid) and other financial assistance may be available for eligible individuals. For residents’ safety, the home is supervised and has security. It has parking onsite and is conveniently accessible by public transportation.
