About Mount Auburn Hospital Cambridge

Mount Auburn Hospital’s Prevention and Recovery Center is a hospital based outpatient addiction program in Cambridge, Massachusetts serving adults age 18 and older. As part of a longstanding teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School the center delivers care that connects recovery to whole person medical and behavioral health support.

The program treats substance use and compulsive gambling with support for co-occurring concerns like anxiety and depression, PTSD and anger management, co-dependency, and relapse prevention.

Substance Use Treatment With Hospital Resources

The Prevention and Recovery Center offers outpatient treatment built around therapy and medication evaluation and monitoring. Care begins with an intake session to develop a treatment plan that fits each patient’s goals and clinical needs.

Sessions draw on evidence based approaches such as CBT and DBT, motivational interviewing and trauma informed counseling, and relapse prevention. Because the program sits within a full service hospital patients can also access behavioral health, primary care, and smoking cessation resources for coordinated dual diagnosis support.

Specialized Care for Gambling Disorder and Family Support

Beyond alcohol and drug use the center is one of the few hospital based programs in the area to explicitly treat compulsive gambling. The team also extends support to families, employers and physicians, and social service agencies affected by or responding to addiction recognizing recovery as a community effort.
