Towson University Counseling Center provides outpatient substance use counseling in Towson, Maryland designed specifically for currently enrolled university students.

The center delivers a broader continuum of mental health and recovery resources but its substance treatment appointments serve as a central pathway for students seeking help with alcohol, cannabis, or other drug concerns. The program is built to help students intervene early and create a stable foundation for ongoing wellness and academic success.

Substance Reduction and Recovery Counseling for Towson University Students

Students meet one-on-one with a dedicated substance treatment counselor through confidential solution focused outpatient appointments. The service supports students troubled by their own use or by a loved one’s use and it is fully integrated with the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Abuse Prevention Center for a connected approach to treatment, prevention, and peer education.

Care is delivered through a Flexible Care model that includes same day appointments and brief counseling, drop-in groups, and referrals. Students can also join T-Break for cannabis reduction, One Less for alcohol reduction, and Tigers in Recovery the university’s Collegiate Recovery Program.

Additional Support and Payment Options

Beyond substance counseling the center offers group counseling and workshops, peer support and identity based groups, a meditation and mindfulness room, and self help e-checkup tools for alcohol and marijuana. Crisis phone support is available after hours.

Most services are offered at no fee to currently enrolled Towson University students with a $25 missed appointment fee. Additional self pay or sliding scale options may apply in certain cases.
