About The Guidance Center Horizon

The Guidance Center’s Five West Crisis Stabilization Unit, formerly known as Horizon, is a substance use and mental health crisis program in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

This short term residential service provides immediate stabilization for adults experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis.

Operated by Western Arkansas Counseling and Guidance Center, a nonprofit community provider, the program emphasizes integrated and compassionate care.

Crisis Stabilization Programs

Care typically begins with short term residential crisis stabilization of up to 72 hours, offering immediate support for adults in acute distress.

This model prioritizes safety and rapid access for those facing co-occurring substance use and mental health needs.

Clients receive around the clock clinical supervision in a structured, secure environment designed for stabilization.

As part of The Guidance Center’s broader network, adults can also connect to outpatient counseling and group therapy, case management and medication management for continued support after their stay.
