About CODAC Providence

CODAC Behavioral Healthcare is a CARF accredited substance use and mental health disorder treatment center. The nonprofit is based in suburban Cranston, Rhode Island, but they have treatment centers throughout the state, including the facility on Huntington Avenue in Providence. The Providence facility is an outpatient facility that treats substance use and co-occurring, or dual diagnosis, disorders. Pregnant women and new mothers are welcomed into a special program where you’ll get help if you’re involved with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.

The facility accepts insurance from several commercial providers including Tufts, United Healthcare, Blue Cross, and Neighborhood Health Plans. They also accept RiteCare and Medicaid.

This treatment center offers Fentanyl education and you’ll have access to Naloxone and overdose training. There’s also education for family members. If you want to stop smoking, there are tobacco cessation programs. They also offer programs for individuals with gambling disorders. They teach alternative approaches to pain management. Hepatitis C is common in people with opioid use disorder, and they offer rapid Hep C testing and treatment.

Staff can place you on a treatment track within 24-48 hours of contacting the facility. The substance use disorder treatment services include medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder. They offer injectable depot naltrexone (Vivitrol), buprenorphine (Suboxone), oral naltrexone, and methadone. Dosing is available weekday and Saturday mornings.

MAT may also work if your substance of choice is alcohol, but you have to stop drinking before you start treatment. MAT always works in tandem with counseling. At the clinic, you’ll work with licensed, experienced professionals to uncover the roots of your addiction.

Many people with substance use have underlying co-occurring mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, or personality disorders. Treating mental health challenges is an important part of addressing substance use. The clinic offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and general outpatient services for this reason.

The IOP is about 4-6 weeks. You’ll meet for individual and group therapy for at least nine hours weekly. For general outpatient treatment, you’ll schedule individual and group counseling sessions.
