About Mayas House Thomasville

Parent company Heritage Foundation, Inc. operates Maya’s House in Cairo, Georgia. The Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit that serves the whole state of Georgia, and the administrative offices are in Thomasville. Maya’s House is a CARF accredited residential facility for women and their children. Women receive treatment for mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders (SUD) while in the program. The program is intended to remove SUD as a barrier to gainful employment.

To be eligible for the program, clients must be detoxed before admission. Priority is given to pregnant women on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), who are in a position to benefit from the opportunities and services provided by the program.

Offering Childcare for Women with Children

This is a sober living house, and most women stay in the program for at least one year. Women are more likely to engage in the program, since they’re able to bring their children. Childcare is often a barrier to treatment for women with young children.

The structured environment helps women work toward reintegration into a productive and independent life. This is a transitional program after detox or inpatient treatment that focuses on building accountability, improving life skills, and encouraging personal growth.

Life Coaching to Work Toward Long Term Recovery

The women live in a comfortable and safe environment. The house provides shared spaces for communal activities, relaxation, and meetings. Downtown Cairo offers a public library, restaurants, local shops, and the Everhope Collective, which is home to goods made by artisans worldwide.

Women receive life coaching that includes wellness habits, employment, and budgeting. The women are encouraged to engage in education and work on meaningful employment as part of their recovery.

  • Private insurance

In Georgia, one of the options to pay for substance use treatment is using private insurance. Different plans have different coverage levels, so be sure to check with your insurance company for details. You may be responsible for certain costs, such as copayments and deductibles. Overall, however, private insurance makes treatment much more affordable.

  • Sliding scale payment assistance

How do you pay for rehab in Georgia? If you are struggling with the cost, consider a program that has a sliding scale payment plan. Centers offer detox, inpatient treatment, and outpatient care on a sliding scale basis, where you pay less based on your income and family size.
