About Union Gospel Mission of Salem

It’s the mission of Union Gospel Mission of Salem to help those who are suffering through a combination of counseling, Christian spirituality and social support services. They primarily help homeless men and women turn their lives around, but they also offer an addiction treatment program as well as transitional support for those leaving incarceration. They’re based out of Salem, Oregon.

Their New Life Fellowship program addresses drug and alcohol addiction in a shared living setting. Fellowship with peers is a big component of this program. Residents do not need insurance to receive care, but staff can help them apply for insurance.

Partners in Healthcare

This faith based program includes mental and primary healthcare through a partnership with JD Health and Wellness. This collaboration delivers care on site, so there’s no need to travel to a different clinic to be seen. It’s a great opportunity to address health problems unrelated to substance use disorder during your stay.

The discussion around addiction recovery can sometimes simplify things too much. Substance use potentially impacts all areas of your health, sometimes in unexpected ways. Combining SUD with other forms of healthcare is not only sensible, it’s a pillar to supporting recovery long term.

Keeping a Lifeline Open

The Lifeline program is available to program graduates. After all the work you do in treatment, you can still benefit from staying in touch with like minded peers. This support group keeps you in touch with the community and broadens your support network at the same time, assisting you as needed in your recovery journey.

Sobriety in Salem

The recovery community in Salem is thriving. Case in point: Soberfest, an annual two day event that brings together food, fun and recovery groups to celebrate and reach out to those in need. This is just one example of how Salem supports those in sobriety, and if you choose the city for treatment, you may find plenty more.

Therapies

  • Group Therapy

In Oregon, group therapy allows you to hear others’ stories, ask questions, and find others who relate to you. This support and accountability help you establish recovery. There are several goals in group therapy. Some sessions may be focused on education about a certain topic, while others allow clients to discuss a specific issue they face. Overall, the group members hold each other accountable and provide encouragement.

  • Individual Therapy

During rehab in Oregon, individual therapy allows you to receive focused, confidential care for specific issues. Individual therapy is only one element of rehab treatment, along with activities, peer support, group counseling, relapse prevention, and more. Together, all these methods support you in establishing long-term recovery.
