About Beacon Mental Health

Tri County Mental Health Services Maple Woods, now operating as Beacon Mental Health, is a nonprofit community behavioral health provider serving Clay, Platte, and Ray counties from its Kansas City campus.

The organization offers substance use treatment alongside mental health care, psychiatry, crisis response and community-based services for adults, adolescents, children, older adults and families.

Rooted in person centered, trauma informed care, this long-standing Northland provider is built to support clients navigating complex, whole-person needs.

Integrated Substance Use Treatment in the Northland

Beacon’s core focus is outpatient substance use treatment, offering both standard outpatient and intensive outpatient programs for adults.

Services include CSTAR programs, Medication Assisted Treatment for opioid use disorder and treatment court services for felony substance use offenders.

Sessions may blend individual therapy, group counseling, relapse-prevention strategies, recovery skill-building and peer support, all coordinated with medical and social supports.

This integrated approach addresses underlying issues while connecting clients to psychiatry, crisis care and county-wide community resources under one roof.

Adolescent and Family-Focused Recovery

Beacon stands apart by extending care to youth through a 16-week adolescent substance use treatment program for ages 12 to 17.

The organization also offers family therapy, co-dependency counseling for loved ones and school-based supports like art therapy, music therapy and case management, helping families heal together.

Access, Support, and Next Steps

Beacon Mental Health provides in-person services at its Maple Woods campus in Kansas City, with walk-in intake screenings available Monday through Friday, and transportation assistance for CSTAR clients.

One client shared that therapy here gave them the tools and courage to face changing emotions.

The organization offers a sliding fee scale through financial navigation and accepts a range of payment options, including a Patient Assistance Program for eligible clients.
