About Oxford House Red River

The Red River’s Oxford Home is located in Alexandria, Louisiana, in the Rapides Parish. This is a men’s-only residential sober home that’s operated under the greater Oxford Homes network.

Oxford Homes are unique types of sober living homes that offer less structure but are critical in an individual’s journey to recovery. They’ve helped serve nearly a quarter of a million individuals ever since the first one opened in the 1970s.

At the heart of all Oxford Homes is the mission to help you reintegrate into society. This is done by having you live in a residential community where you can engage in independent living activities like going to work, school, and continuing therapy.

Oxford Homes are shared residential homes, usually single-family homes, where residents live as they continue through the tail end of their recovery from a substance use struggle. These homes are gender separated so that you’ll have a safe and supportive place to live.

As with all other Oxford Homes, at Red River, you’ll live in a home that is democratically run. All residents are responsible for taking care of the home, paying their own bills, and ensuring that all other residents respect one another and the overall living arrangement.

There’s a sense of freedom you’ll find here, and you don’t have rigid structures as you’d find in other sober living or transitional living facilities. For example, you generally won’t have to check in with someone or have specific curfews you need to adhere to.

Red River’s Oxford House is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Alexandria. It’s a single family home that sits on a spacious and somewhat wooded lot. You’re close to other neighbors, but you have a lot of privacy allowing you to enjoy your front and back yard in peace.

Alexandria is the largest city in this parish. As such, you’ll find a variety of community support services that you can tap into while living in the Oxford House.

Also, you’re within walking distance of community spaces like the nearby Calvary Baptist Church and the local Goodwill. You’re also close to shopping centers where you’ll find a Walmart and other food and retail locations.
