About Oxford House Oliver

The Oxford House sober living home network had a location in Wichita, Kansas, but it has since closed. It was known as Oxford House Oliver and exclusively served adult men in substance abuse recovery. These residences serve as a supportive environment as men continue recovery and transition back to independent living.

While this location is permanently closed, you can still find other Oxford Houses in Kansas and across the country.

A Democratic Model

What sets the Oxford House program apart from other sober living homes is how it is run. Every member of the house has a say in its day-to-day operations, including welcoming other members, giving them more power and responsibility than standard transitional living homes.

This adds a layer of responsibility to life in the home. In addition to accounting for their own and each other’s sobriety, members must remain active in household issues. This structure helps prepare them for fully independent living.

No Fixed Stay

Some sober living homes have strict lengths of stay for each resident, often to accommodate others seeking to make use of the service.

Oxford houses are different in that a resident can remain as long as they like, so long as they remain in good standing with others and abide by the house’s rules. This includes paying a share of rent and whatever duties are delegated by the group.

Therapies

  • Group Therapy

Talking about what we’re going through is an important way to heal, and group therapy in Kansas gives you that opportunity. Sessions generally last 60 to 90 minutes and give you a chance to discover others’ experiences, hear about the impact of substance use, and learn important new life skills.

  • Individual Therapy

If you struggle with addiction in Kansas, it’s common to feel like no one understands you. Individual therapy can help you find professional support. During individual therapy, you have the freedom and confidentiality to share personal issues and past experiences that may impact your substance use. Your therapist will help you work through those concerns and develop new ways of handling them.
