About Jewish Family Service
The Michael R. Zent Healthcare Center in Phoenix, Arizona, is owned by Jewish Family & Children’s Service. This nonprofit organization provides behavioral health and other services to people of all ages, backgrounds and faiths. This facility used to be called the Catalina Health Center and was renamed in 2016. It is a single-story building with an outdoor shaded basketball court, onsite pharmacy, and medical services.
They offer a sliding fee schedule based on family size and income and accept Medicare and most commercial health plans.
Their substance abuse program is offered onsite or in the client’s home. It aims to help clients improve their family relationships, prevent relapse, build a proactive lifestyle and treat mental health issues. Services include psychiatric care, individual, family and group counseling as well as play and trauma therapy. You can also work with animals, which can improve your emotions and empathy as you care for your pet.
They run a substance abuse program for adolescents. It’s an innovative treatment plan for young people between the ages of 12 and 17. Staff will work with teens and their families to set achievable goals one step at a time. This program blends mental health treatment so that youth are getting a full scope of support and care. They also have special grant funding to help eligible children get access to these services.
This center also offers prevention and educational programs. Creating Peaceful Families is an early intervention program that runs in collaboration with schools in the Maricopa county area. This program covers substance abuse prevention, anger management, conflict resolution, bullying and other topics. They also provide support groups for 6-8 students per group that supports at-risk students to improve coping and have positive peer relationships.
