About Altacare of Dothan

Altacare of Dothan was located on Ross Clark Circle in Dothan, Alabama. They’re now permanently closed. They provided behavioral health services to address and treat co-occurring mental health issues and substance use disorder.

Near Health Care Facilities and Natural Landmarks

They were located in a medical office complex, with ample onsite parking off of Route 431 and Route 84. Their center was located in a rural community in Alabama, near restaurants, local businesses, residential homes and health care providers. They were also close to several natural landmarks including Eastgate Park, Forever Wild Trails and the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens.

Outpatient Rehab Services with Therapy and Counseling

Altacare had provided services through outpatient care to address past traumas through counseling and group therapy sessions. I find it good to know that in addition, the staff had worked with their clients to offer medication management to ensure clients’ mental health issues were being concurrently treated as they were under care for addiction.

Sessions would typically last an hour to an hour and a half and meet regularly several times per week. This would allow clients to continue to achieve a healthy work life balance as you sought treatment for your addiction.

Aftercare Planning and Support

I find it encouraging to know that they also offered aftercare planning and support, as you prepared for completion of your outpatient care. This may include access to community support groups, housing services, job placement and vocational training programs as well as higher levels of care.

With close access to various medical centers and facilities, Altacare of Dothan may have also provided clients with access to primary care services, pain clinics and other programs to address health issues that may be affected by your addiction.

Therapies

Attending individual therapy in Alabama is a way to work through your past and develop healthy coping skills, helping you establish long-term recovery. Individual therapy is a normal part of evidence-based treatment programs and may be a part of inpatient treatment, outpatient care, or both. Topics include processing past events that may have contributed to substance use, learning new life skills, and relapse prevention strategies.

  • Family Therapy

Family therapy in Alabama helps clients overcome substance use by addressing the family conflicts and dysfunction that may contribute to addiction. Family therapy is only one element of rehab treatment, along with activities, peer support, individual and group counseling, relapse prevention, and more. Together, all these methods support you in establishing long-term recovery.
