Inova Behavioral Health Inpatient at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is a hospital based behavioral health facility in Falls Church, Virginia offering inpatient psychiatric and addiction treatment services. The campus houses three distinct units: an Adult Psychiatric Unit, an Adult Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services (CATS) Unit, and an Adolescent Psychiatric Unit for ages 14 to 17.

CATS With Medical Detox and Outpatient Services

The CATS program is Inova’s flagship addiction service treating adults struggling with alcohol, prescription drugs, heroin, cocaine, and other substance use disorders. Operating since 1982, CATS is one of the region’s longest-running addiction treatment programs and is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of addiction experts.

Care begins with an evaluation to determine the appropriate level of treatment, which may include inpatient medical detoxification, outpatient group therapy, or medication-assisted treatment. This holistic, evidence-based approach addresses both the physical and psychological dimensions of addiction across a full continuum of care.

Inpatient Psychiatric Care for Adults and Adolescents

Beyond addiction services, the campus provides inpatient psychiatric stabilization for adults and adolescents facing acute mental health needs. The adolescent unit, opened in 2018, features 15 beds with mostly private rooms designed for short-term treatment of emotional, behavioral, and psychological concerns in teens ages 14 to 17.
