Stepping Stones Rehabilitation Services is the substance use disorder treatment program of Dakota Counseling Institute, serving Mitchell and the surrounding South Dakota communities.

The 24-hour co-ed program supports adolescents and adults affected directly or indirectly by mood-altering chemical use, offering everything from assessment and detox to outpatient care and transitional living.

Stepping Stones is built on the idea that recovery is possible for people from all walks of life, with a continuum of care designed to meet clients wherever they are in their journey.

Full Care Continuum

Stepping Stones offers a full continuum of addiction care, including treatment needs assessments, social detox, intensive inpatient treatment, medically monitored inpatient treatment and outpatient services.

Aftercare and relapse prevention courses are available for both adolescents and adults to help with sustained sobriety after treatment.

Clients engage in structured curricula that may include Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), anger management, parenting classes and Strengths Group.

The 24-hour residential setting provides consistent staff support and many clients can continue working while in treatment.

Specialized Tracks and Court-Involved Programming

Beyond general addiction care, Stepping Stones provides Intensive Methamphetamine Treatment, first offender DUI courses,and readiness groups for federal probationers.

These specialized tracks address the unique needs of clients facing court involvement or stimulant use disorders, paired with education, intervention and referral support.

The program accepts state funding for those who qualify, and some private insurance plans may cover services pending verification through admissions.
