Shadow Mountain Recovery was a drug and mental health treatment center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for clients 18 and older. The facility offered medical detoxification and medication assisted treatment (MAT) with inpatient and outpatient treatment programs.

The foundation of the program was the 12 step model of recovery. They accepted TRICARE, private insurance and were in network with many providers. Shadow Mountain Recovery is now permanently closed.

A Continuum of Care in Santa Fe

The treatment facility offered a complete continuum of care from inpatient detox and treatment to aftercare services. The program integrated the 12 step model of recovery with clinical recovery services and practical life skills for long term sobriety.

The facility in Santa Fe was convenient to I-25 and Old Las Vegas Highway. It was near parks and historical sites, so clients had access to many calming and healing natural environments.

There were spacious rooms decorated in a charming southwestern style, and clients gathered in large common areas. The facility featured a meditation garden where you could meditate on your treatment plan and life moving forward, free from substances. There was also access to hiking trails and gardens.

Holistic Addiction Treatment Approach

Clients engaged in holistic therapies that aimed at treating not only the body, but also the mind and spirit. Activities included music therapy, art therapy and yoga. The program combined talk therapy with holistic activities and integrated the culture and natural landscape of the southwest into treatment.

The program used trauma informed care to identify and address the underlying trauma that contributed to substance use and addiction. One former client’s loved one stated that the program had a positive impact and resulted in a significant life improvement and successful recovery.
