About Center for Psychosocial Development

The Center for Psychosocial Development or CPD is a licensed nonprofit clinical services provider in Anchorage, Alaska serving adults and older adolescents in behavior risk and socio sexual treatment.

CPD offers trauma informed care, risk management services, socio sexual skills training, sexual offender treatment, and support for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. They can also help with co-occurring substance use disorder. CPD’s mission is to offer accountable, compassionate treatment designed to promote safety, relational health, and responsible autonomy for those navigating complex socio sexual behaviors.

Specialized Socio Sexual Behavior and Offender Treatment Expertise

With certification from the state’s Department of Corrections, CPD’s core specialty is in treating individuals with sexual offense histories, problematic socio-sexual behaviors, or risk thereof. They serve male and female clients, including those with IDD, through outpatient risk management, assessment, and therapeutic services.

Treatment is delivered using frameworks like Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) and the Good Lives Model, integrating trauma-informed approaches that focus on emotional self-regulation, coping skills, decision-making, and relational health. Clients engage in group therapy, individual/couples or family counseling, community-based sessions, and structured psychoeducational work to address root issues as well as daily behaviors.

Integrated Care for Co-Occurring Needs

Beyond socio-sexual behavior treatment, CPD specializes in addressing mental health conditions alongside developmental or intellectual disabilities. They tailor interventions when trauma and substance use are factors, helping clients whose mental health challenges intersect with legal supervision and risk behavior.

Substance abuse treatment includes weekly topic groups, screening tools, peer support, and lifestyle work, while trauma groups and community sessions aim to mend foundational relational health and decision making. Their wraparound model combines internal counseling with external supports and monitoring to ensure continuity of care.

In Person and Community Based Services

CPD serves Anchorage and surrounding areas through in-person services at their Rudakof Circle clinic and outreach via community based sessions. They are certified providers for criminal justice referred clients and operate under state contracts. Funding comes partly from state contracts with the Department of Corrections and other agencies.
