New Behavioral Treatment Center Planned in Shasta Lake
To expand behavioral health services, health care providers and nonprofit groups have joined forces to build a new treatment center in Shasta Lake, California. The Arch Collaborative leads this initiative with help of the county agencies and Signature Healthcare Services.
Kimberley Johnson, the CEO at Arch Collaborative, says that Signature Healthcare Services are looking to build the campus and operate the behavioral health program. They specialize in mental health and substance abuse treatment, with 19 facilities spread out across several states. So far, Signature has already applied for a state grant with up to $800m to fund the new coalition. The target site: 20 acres in pristine Shasta Lake.
Goals to Bridge Gaps in Shasta County
The Shasta Lake site will feature many levels of care to address a variety of behavioral health needs. Johnson states that the new center would operate 24/7 and provide walk-in care, outpatient and inpatient services and medical detox. She says the center’s aim is to accept clients of all ages to “fill critical gaps in our region’s behavioral health continuum.”
One major coalition goal is to help individuals receive care while living at home. Johnson states, “For many of these people, when they are returning to Shasta County, they need a ‘step down,’ where they are not going from an inpatient unit into a follow up care that is perhaps once a week of services.”
Beforehand, providers sent those needing step-down care down to Sacramento or even Southern California cities like Los Angeles to receive care. But, services at home just didn’t exist. This future campus offers to fix that, with planned programs lasting between three and five days a week with up to five hours per day.
A Future Treatment Center for Present Needs in Shasta Lake
The planned treatment center in Shasta Lake constitutes a major step to ease the demand for behavioral health services. However, many people can’t afford to wait until the grand opening. If you need immediate care, call 800-908-4823 (Sponsored) or look for specialized treatment centers near you.
