About Adult and Teen Challenge Heartland

Adult and Teen Challenge Heartland is a faith-based addiction treatment center in Memphis, Tennessee, offering long-term residential recovery for men struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. The Memphis campus, operating since 1972 as the program’s flagship location, provides an 8-month residential phase followed by a 4-month transitional re-entry phase designed to help men rebuild their lives through Christian discipleship and practical life skills.

The structured, Gospel-centered approach emphasizes community, mentorship and step-by-step progress toward independence.

What types of programs does Adult and Teen Challenge Heartland offer?

The program is a three-phase residential experience that includes induction and orientation, advanced group studies and a re-entry phase at Hope House. The curriculum covers Bible study, anger management, relationships and the teachings of Jesus. The program addresses this alongside practical training in resume building, budgeting and job interview skills during the transition phase.

It is not a medical detox facility and requires all students to be detoxed before admission.

Adult and Teen Challenge Heartland serves men ages 18 and older who are ready for a long-term, faith-based recovery commitment. The program also welcomes justice-involved individuals, including those on probation or parole with written court approval.

What does the program cost?

An initial payment of $1,000 is required on or before admission, which includes a $300 non-refundable processing fee and $700 for the first month. After that, tuition is $700 per month until the student enters the re-entry phase and becomes employed. The facility requires a valid credit card on file to reserve a bed.
