About Buffalo Valley West BVI

Buffalo Valley is in Hohenwald, Tennessee, and has been offering substance abuse treatments since 1979. They also provide housing and support services for low income, disabled and homeless folks in the area. Clients can access residential, outpatient and detox services as well as emergency shelter and transitional and affordable housing.

Their medical detox services at their BVI West compound help clients safely get through the withdrawal period which tends to last around five days. I like that they offer 24/7 admissions so that clients can begin recovery anytime. Staff will assess each patient to offer the right treatment for their needs. At the end of detox, you’ll be able to enroll in their residential program if you wish.

Their residential program lets clients focus on their recovery away from distractions and triggers. Staff include counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists and a nursing team. You’ll have access to small group therapy and one-on-one counseling as well as life skills workshops. Mediation and relaxation classes will help clients learn how to deal with challenging thoughts and feelings.

Residents will also have work activities which will help them develop their self esteem and confidence as well as skills. I like that they will review your care plan weekly to make changes as you progress through your recovery.

They also offer case management and job training and job placement services so that you are set up for success after you leave treatment. Buffalo Valley, Inc. works with Correction Services and Federal Probation to help people recover instead of doing jail time.

Outpatient levels of care include partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP). Both let you live at home or in transitional housing while getting multiple treatment hours each week. PHP offers treatment seven days a week while IOP consists of three sessions a week.
