About Amethyst House – Men’s House

The men’s house of Amethyst House in Bloomington, Indiana is a CARF accredited nonprofit providing residential care for men aged 18 and older battling substance use disorders. This 17 bed facility has been offering a supportive and homelike environment for 40 years. They accept Medicaid and Recovery Works. Subsidized funding is also received from the state of Indiana for those who are income eligible.

Meeting Residential Requirements

The men’s residential program is available to men 18 and older. They don’t offer detox here and they don’t have medical staff so you will need to be sober for at least five days before your program.

The program provides addiction counseling and therapy to help you modify your thought patterns for long term sobriety. In addition to this, though, you’ll be required to get a job and develop financial stability so that when you leave the program, you have the foundation to stand on your own two feet.

Supportive Services and Referrals

You can receive supportive services such as sober living arrangements, drug testing, and case management to connect you with community resources like employment or housing support. While the program focuses on substance use, it also addresses co-occurring mental health issues like depression or anxiety through counseling.

They do not offer on site detoxification or medication assisted treatment (MAT). If you need detox, you will be referred to partner facilities.

Recent reviews praise the structured environment and supportive staff, with one alumnus crediting the program for sustained sobriety. Some individuals did note a limited mental health focus.
